Bob Atkins is a partner with Heidrick & Struggles, based in the Philadelphia Office since 1998, and a member of the Life Sciences Practice. Bob’s search work focuses primarily on serving clients in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Most of his recruiting assignments have been for senior executive positions in general management as well as the R&D and commercial functional areas.
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Bob was vice president and managing director, pharmaceuticals of the Hay Group for a period of nine years, with responsibility for directing the pharmaceutical industry practice in the US and participating in the firm’s worldwide practice. Prior to that, Bob was a vice president for IMS, and prior to that was president of Fisher-Stevens for a number of years, providing services to the pharmaceutical industry.
Bob has been active on a number of boards, both civic and business, including Passaic General Hospital, College of St. Elizabeth and St. Mary’s Hospital, all in New Jersey, and the Bureau of National Affairs, Inc. in Washington, DC. He has also been a member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO).
Most recently, Bob has taught in the management department of the College of St. Elizabeth. He previously taught at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and in the management department of Fairleigh Dickinson University’s graduate division.
