Maiko C. Ashby is an associate principal in Heidrick & Struggles’ global Technology & Professional Services Practice. She brings nearly 15 years of experience in executive search and human resources leadership in technology, communications, hospitality, and management consulting. Since joining the firm in 2005, Maiko has conducted numerous senior-level searches including for CHRO, CEO/COO, CMO, CFO, and board directors for clients in communications, software, internet, semiconductor, and IT services.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Maiko led corporate recruiting at Nextel Communications, a $13 billion wireless carrier. She led talent management and acquisition during one of the company’s highest growth periods and built Nextel’s diversity and inclusion organization as a member of the Inclusion Advisory Council. Previously, Maiko served as global head of executive staffing at Marriott International, where she was responsible for executive recruiting and succession planning across all brands and functions worldwide. Her early career was with a boutique executive search firm specializing in biotechnology and in management consulting.

Maiko has an MS in foreign service from Georgetown University and a BA in international affairs from The American University. She has lived and worked internationally and speaks Japanese and Spanish. She serves on the board of Pathway Homes and is a member of Women Corporate Directors.
