Michael Hickcox specializes in officer and board-level searches, especially in the technology industry. Michael is based in our Menlo Park, California office in the San Francisco Bay Area. He focuses on software, Internet and media, hardware and systems, and communications businesses.
Michael joined Heidrick & Struggles from Yahoo!, where he ran the self-service business for one of the company's business units. Prior to that, he worked in M&A for a high-tech firm in the UK and in strategy at McDonald's Corp, where among other things he co-lead the team that created it's Redbox business. Michael began his career in management consulting, initially at Gemini Consulting and subsequently at Strategos, an innovation consultancy founded by Gary Hamel.
Michael has an interest in public service. He served as an MBA Intern at the White House during business school, where he worked on the nation's new human space exploration policy outlining a manned mission to Mars. More recently, he served on the Medical Research Policy Group of a US Presidential campaign.
