John Lee is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Financial Services Practice and heads the Global Markets Practice for North America. John brings 25 years of capital markets experience to his search career. He has completed assignments ranging from mid-level to senior leadership positions for large multinational US and foreign banks, bulge bracket investment banks and emerging boutique broker dealers.
Assignments John recently completed include the global head of fixed income, global head of credit products, US head of equities, global head of fixed income research, heads of US equity sales, and sales trading, macro rates portfolio manager, and the heads of prime services sales and synthetic sales. During John’s career he has completed searches in structured/securitized products (MBS/CMBS/ABS), sales covering fixed income, equity and commodities, equity and fixed income derivative sales, relationship managers, credit and rates/foreign exchange traders, portfolio managers/prop traders, and finance (CFO and product controllers). John also has completed extensive work in municipal finance having worked with many of the top municipal platforms and regional boutiques in their recruitment of public finance bankers, derivatives marketers, and cash/structured product (TOB) traders.
Prior to joining the firm, John worked at a global retained boutique where he established their New York office. John joined Heidrick in April 2008.
John began his career with Coopers & Lybrand before joining Bankers Trust (BT). He has worked in capital markets since the 1980s and has held regional and global roles as a managing director in rates and treasury trading, and structured finance. He has also held roles as a CFO/COO and risk manager. John has worked for companies in the US and Hong Kong including BT (NY), Prudential Insurance (NY/Newark), Lehman Brothers (NY/HK), Peregrine Investments Holdings (HK), ING Barings (HK) and Credit Suisse (NY).
