Paul W. Benson

Overview

Paul Benson is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Stamford and New York offices and a member of the Energy Practice, leading the global power and utilities sector. He advises utility boards and senior management on managing human capital risk, C-level succession, and market trends and threats. He also conducts corporate governance and executive level search assignments for electric and gas utilities, independent system operators, independent power producers, as well as heavy/civil construction companies. He has spoken at the annual EEI convention on corporate governance, has written articles for Fortnightly magazine on talent management and has written and spoken on the talent issues facing the global nuclear sector, with an emphasis on US and Middle East based nuclear companies.

Experience

In 2012, in recognition for a CEO search he had recently conducted, Paul was awarded the firm’s single highest honor for quality execution – the Heidrick & Struggles Global Craftsmanship Award. Earlier, Paul was based in the firm’s Middle East office, where he conducted C-level executive search and advisory service for Middle East based energy companies interested in attracting talent from the US and European markets.

Paul's earlier career combines 10 years of consumer products marketing with such companies as H.P. Hood, Mennen, and The Perrier Group of America.
