Harry O’Neill is managing partner of the firm’s Financial Services Practice in Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong. With more than 20 years’ experience in executive search, Harry specializes in global markets executive search in the region, having completed searches spanning all areas of traded and capital markets. He also handles senior searches in the broader financial services industry, completing many high-level assignments in the region.
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Harry was managing director at another global search firm which he joined when it combined businesses with a leading Hong Kong search firm that Harry founded nearly 20 years ago. Harry started his finance career in London with J.P. Morgan before joining the dealing staff at Allied Irish Bank, where he was involved in the early development of the interest rate derivatives market. He has worked in Kuwait and Singapore, and for Deutsche Bank in Sydney.
Harry is a former chair of the boards of both the Association of Executive Search Consultants and its Asia Pacific Council, and continues to serve as vice chair in Asia Pacific. He has been extensively involved in Irish community organizations in the region and has served as the honorary consul of Ireland to Hong Kong since 2006.
In Asiamoney’s Headhunters Poll, Harry was voted the "Most admired individual headhunter for debt and global markets searches, Asia-wide" from 2001 to 2006.
