Rich Pehlke is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Heidrick & Struggles and is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He joined Heidrick & Struggles in 2011, and is responsible for the company’s finance and technology functions, including financial reporting, information technology, risk management, investor relations, treasury, real estate, financial planning and analysis, and audit.
Prior to joining the firm, Rich was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Grubb & Ellis Company from 2007 to 2010. From 2003 to 2005, he was an executive vice president, chief financial officer and director of Hudson Highland Group.
Rich has been a member of the Chicago business community throughout his career, which spans 40 years of global corporate financial leadership experience in the professional services, telecommunications, food and consumer products, financial services and commercial real estate industries.
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Rich served as executive vice president & chief financial officer of Grubb & Ellis Company from 2007 until 2010. He was executive vice president & chief financial officer and director of Hudson Highland Group from 2003 to 2005. He also was the vice president, treasurer of Ameritech Corporation.
Rich was named 2015 CFO of the Year among mid-size public companies by the Chicago chapter of Financial Executives International. This award goes to senior financial leaders who have made outstanding contributions to a business or non-profit in Chicago with quality, insight, and direction.
Rich currently serves as a board member of Ideal Industries, Sycamore, Illinois, where he serves as Audit Committee chair and as a lead independent director. Past board experience includes Valparaiso University, Edward Health Services Corporation, Hudson Highland Group, New Zealand Telecom, and Belgium’s Belgacom (now Proximus).
Rich earned his MBA in finance from DePaul University and his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Valparaiso University.
