Cathy Powell is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles' London office and member of the Leadership Consulting Practice. She has more than 20 years of experience helping senior leaders align their workforce to deliver company strategy.

Working internationally with leading brands in multiple sectors, Cathy’s experience spans the full range of people and organization challenges, including performance transformation, behavioral change, top-team development and coaching, organization design, talent management, and capability building.

Prior to joining Hedrick & Struggles, Cathy was a director at Co Company, an organizational development consulting firm acquired by Heidrick & Struggles in 2015.

Cathy has led a number of high-profile projects, having:

  • Coached a group CEO and group executive of a FTSE 100 global energy services company focused on achieving growth and performance optimization.

  • Worked with a leading healthcare company in South Africa, US, Europe, and Asia to increase performance and align behaviors to its strategy through organization design, performance management, and leadership development.

  • Designed and led a program for senior leaders in an international telecommunications business to develop its talent pipeline

  • Coached a leading support services company to increase performance and organizational efficiency through top team development, organization design, performance management, leadership development, and behavioral change.

  • Worked with a leading international IT firm to develop new capabilities to support its growth plans, including introduction of global assessment processes, leadership development, and the improvement of key account management capabilities.

  • Worked with a number of private equity companies to develop and deliver strategies to transform the performance and culture of acquisitions.

In her corporate career, Cathy headed leadership development for a retailer, led the people and organization elements of large-scale change programs for an airports group, and was head of organization development and HR director for a retail bank.

Education:

Cathy is a business graduate currently completing a master’s degree in organizational learning and development. She is a trained executive coach through the Academy of Executive Coaching Advanced Coaching Program, an NLP practitioner, and is registered to use a wide variety of psychometric instruments.
