A recognized leading authority on organizational performance, Colin Price is an executive vice president and the global managing partner of the Leadership Consulting Practice based in Heidrick & Struggles’ London office.
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Colin served as chairman of Co Company, an organizational development consulting firm acquired by Heidrick & Struggles in 2015. He previously led the worldwide organization practice at McKinsey & Co. for many years.
Colin has consulted with many of the world’s largest organizations and published on important business challenges of organization health and performance for 25 years. His focus is on developing organizations that can align, execute, and renew better and quicker than competitors. His body of work around building organizational health, purpose, culture, leadership, and capabilities has defined this arena of study and practice.
Colin has published widely, and is author and co-author of seven books, including Accelerating Performance: How Organizations Can Mobilize, Execute, and Transform with Agility, with Sharon Toye of Heidrick & Struggles. This book draws on a combination of empirical research and decades of experience advising global companies to show you how to reduce time to value by building and changing momentum more quickly than your competitors. The research demonstrates that the most important drivers of an organization’s performance are its ability to mobilize, execute and transform with agility. Colin has presented at many prestigious conferences, including The World Economic Forum and the Harvard Roundtable series around the need to integrate thinking on organizational performance and health so that corporations can create an aligned, high-performance system.
Colin has led a number of high-profile projects, having:
Worked with a large technology company to measure organizational health, define its contribution to competitive strategy, and build a comprehensive, multi-year implementation to improve health.
Identified and implemented a performance improvement plan for a healthcare system to improve collaboration among hospitals and other providers, between providers and purchasers and between statutory bodies.
Worked with several financial services companies in the wake of the financial crisis to build healthier institutions, including coaching the CEO and top team, changing performance management criteria and systems, developing leadership skills in several hundred of the most senior leaders, and reconnecting people to a sense of purpose and contribution for the institution.
Acted as lead advisor on many mergers and acquisitions, working with the top team of the combined entity to achieve committed cost and revenue synergies and build an organization that can outcompete.
Colin is an associate fellow of Saïd Business School, Oxford University and visiting professor in the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London. He holds degrees in economics, industrial relations, behavioral psychology and organization behavior.
