Kathryn Ullrich is a principal in Heidrick & Struggles’ Menlo Park office and a member of the Global Technology & Services Practice. Her search practice focuses on recruitment of VP and C-level executives within software, internet, and technology services companies, including chief executive officer, general manager, vice president of marketing, vice president of product management, vice president of sales, vice president of business development, vice president of alliances, and vice president of services. Kathryn is also a part of the Diversity Practice and focuses on gender diversity in technology searches.
Kathryn has 15 years’ experience in executive search, most recently as president and consultant at Kathryn Ullrich Associates, Inc. Prior to starting her own recruiting business, she worked at another major international executive search firm and led alumni career services for UCLA Anderson School of Management. Before becoming an executive recruiter, Kathryn had careers in engineering at Motorola and GTE (now Verizon), strategy consulting with Accenture, and software product marketing with Siebel Systems (now Oracle).
Kathryn co-founded a Silicon Valley non-profit, now SVForum Tech Women’s Program, with the mission to educate, mentor, and connect women in technology.
Previously, Kathryn was VP of the board of directors for the UCLA Anderson School Alumni Association, MBA alumni class president, member of the board of directors for the University of Michigan Alumni Association, regional director for the Silicon Valley chapter of WITI, and a selected participant for Leadership California. She was the recipient of the Kenneth Ernst Thought Leadership Award at Accenture for a groundbreaking industry study and holds patents in video on demand.
Kathy has written an award-winning career book, Getting to the Top: Strategies for Career Success.
She has a BS in electrical engineering, cum laude, from University of Michigan and an MBA with top Carter Honors from UCLA Anderson School of Management.
