Carlos “Cadu” E M Barros Jr. is a principal in Heidrick & Struggles’ Sao Paulo office and a member of the Financial Services and Private Equity practices. He has more than 26 years of experience in top financial institutions, focusing on the oil and gas/petrochemical, metals and mining, pulp and paper, power, telcom, textile, and agribusiness sectors.
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Carlos was statutory director of Banco Sumitomo Mitsui Brasileiro SA for 11 years and a member of its executive committee. As head of non-Japanese corporate banking, Carlos led a team of executives in charge of origination and executing CAPEX financing for top-tier companies and financial institutions, focusing on both corporate and project finance, syndicated loans, securitizations, bond issuing, structured export finance, multilaterals/export credit agencies, and deposits.
Before that, Carlos was a senior banker and head of pulp and paper, agribusiness, and diversified industries at Société Générale Corporate & Investment Bank. Prior to that, he participated in the start-up of J. Safra Bank, where he was corporate superintendent.
Carlos received his bachelor’s degree in economic sciences from Mackenzie Presbyterian University and an executive MBA from Ibmec. He is a CPA and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
