Alain Deniau is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Singapore office and the regional managing partner of the Consumer Markets Practice for Asia Pacific and the Middle East. He also leads the CEO & Board Practice in Singapore.
Alain has extensive experience in senior cross-border assignments within Asia as well as between Europe and Asia. Previously, Alain was managing partner of the firm's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
With experience across Paris, London, Hong Kong, China, Japan, and Singapore, Alain specializes in international search assignments, leadership assessment, and consulting. He helps private equity firms identify CEOs and senior advisors and to develop top teams. As a member of the CEO & Board Practice covering board and non-executive director searches, Alain advises companies in areas such as executive performance, succession planning, and top-team effectiveness.
An accomplished consultant with more than two decades of executive search and leadership advisory experience, Alain began his career as an engineer and property developer in Asia before becoming a management consultant with Mars & Co. He has achieved a strong reputation among top company leaders across a wide spectrum of sectors including hospitality, entertainment, FMCG, retail, airports, transportation, utilities, and supply chain.
During his career at Heidrick & Struggles, Alain has spearheaded various thought leadership articles including Route to the Top and Building an Effective and Diverse Board. In addition, Alain has represented the firm at several top leadership events including the World Economic Forum in Africa and Asia. Strongly committed to diversity and inclusion, Alain is the firm's spokesperson on diversity initiatives, sharing his views at press conferences and in client events, and has been frequently quoted in the media.
Alain graduated from ESTP Paris and received an MBA from INSEAD. He obtained his board member certification from INSEAD International Directors Program in 2020. He is fluent in French and English.
