Richard Greene is a partner in Heidrick & Struggle’s New York office and a member of Heidrick Consulting and Financial Services Practice. During his career with Heidrick & Struggles, Richard has been a partner, regional practice leader, and an executive officer.
From 2015-2018, Richard served as Heidrick’s chief human resources officer. He was a member of the Management Committee and worked closely with the board of directors to implement major changes in compensation and performance management. He was actively involved in the CEO succession which took place during his tenure and led the recruitment or promotion process for four other executive officers. An active champion of diversity and inclusion, Richard created the Accelerating Women’s Excellence (AWE) leadership development program, for which he remains executive sponsor. During his tenure, the firm grew revenues by over 25%, lowered headcount by 14% and provided a total return to shareholders of over 60%.
Earlier in his career, Richard led Heidrick Consulting in the Americas. During this time, he advised client boards and CEOs, primarily in financial services, on succession planning. For example, during the largest debtor-in-possession case in US history, Richard was the talent advisor to the Creditor’s Committee on the selection of a new executive team to guide the company out of bankruptcy; and for a U.S. regional bank, he advised the board on the promotion of a new CEO and then worked with the CEO to form an executive team that has transformed the business and delivered a 10x return to shareholders.
Before that, Richard held executive roles at Bunge, a leading global agribusiness and commodity trading company; the KIPP Foundation, which is recognized nationally within the U.S. as a model for education reform; and Deloitte Consulting, where he served on the Americas Management Committee.
Richard is a member of the Advisory Board of Empirical Hire, based in Tel Aviv. Empirical provides a SAAS machine learning solution to transform the new hire selection process for its clients.
Richard earned both a BA, with honors, in history and an MBA from George Washington University.
