Michael Oberwegner is the managing partner for central and eastern Europe based in Heidrick & Struggles’ Munich and Zurich offices. He is a member of the firm’s Global Technology Practice, specializing in search and leadership consulting assignments for companies across a broad spectrum of industries.
Michael focuses on digital transformation, innovation, and cutting-edge technology. He conducts high-profile board-level and C-suite searches for public and private companies and manages a number of key client relationships.
Michael has increasingly been conducting senior executive assessments designed to help clients determine gaps in skills, lack of experience, and diversity issues in their teams. He provides advice regarding senior-level appointments and oversees board and CEO succession planning projects. Given his global digital market expertise, he assesses talent needs and solves associated issues for top-end technology firms. In addition, he assists in transforming businesses.
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Michael was head of the technology sector and managing director, respectively, at two other global executive search firms in Germany. Before that, he was Apple Computer's HR manager in Europe. Michael is fluent in German and English.
Michael holds a law degree from Ludwigs Maximilian University, a degree in business administration from University St Gallen and a masters in business administration from Stanford University.
