Overview

William Bown is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Hong Kong office and a member of the Financial Services Practice. He provides advice on effective leadership, performance culture, and strategic succession planning for institutional, corporate, and commercial banking clients across Asia Pacific.

Experience

Drawing on 20 years of experience, William provides advice on effective leadership, performance culture, and strategic succession planning primarily for investment banks, securities brokerages, financial conglomerates, and fintech start-ups across Asia Pacific. In addition to front-office business lines, he leads mandates with broad functional experience that includes group and divisional chief executive officer, finance, digital, information technology, human resources, risk, and operations.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, William was a managing director at another leading international search firm, where he worked for more than a decade. William focused on assignments in investment banking, corporate banking, structured finance, and capital markets. He has extensive experience with transformational projects involving the build-out of entire teams and business lines of professionals for companies looking to enter new sectors, products, and geographies across Asia Pacific and EMEA.

Before relocating to Hong Kong, William was a consultant with a London-based financial services executive search firm and has a background in recruiting in financial technology and quantitative analytics sectors.
