Hiro Higuma is a partner in Heidrick and Struggles’ Tokyo office where he leads the Global Technology & Services Practice in Japan. He also leads the Information & Technology Officers Practice in Japan across all industries focusing on senior leadership searches. Hiro has years of industry experience and a solid track record in developing high performing teams resulting in a strong business growth.


Hiro has more than 25 years of experience in IT, cloud, semiconductors, communications, IoT, and cybersecurity in senior leadership positions at leading technology companies. He has held a number of senior positions including vice president at Altera Corporation (now Intel), president of Altera Japan Ltd., general manager at Microsoft, president of Symantec Japan, and chief strategy officer and board director at a cybersecurity start-up.

He has extensive technology and market knowledge having worked both in Silicon Valley, CA in the U.S. as well as in Tokyo, Japan. Hiro has lived and worked both in the U.S. and Japan. He is a native speaker of both Japanese and English and is well-versed in the culture and business practices of both. His international background brings a global perspective to the technology industry facing fast-paced digital transformation.

Hiro began his career as an engineer in the semiconductor industry. His career experience brings a unique balance of technology and business that provides new insights to leaders. His management experience stems from his leadership roles at large global companies to starting a technology company from the ground up.
