John Jameson


John Jameson is a principal in Heidrick & Struggles’ Tokyo office. He leads the Consumer Markets Practice in Japan. With more than 19 years of search experience, he has a substantial record of C-suite placements, including non-executive board directors.


Having lived and worked in Tokyo for more than 26 years, he has extensive experience spanning the Asia Pacific region. John has advised numerous global companies on talent in the Japan market, and is recognized as a market-leading search consultant in the consumer sector. John also has in-depth knowledge of the consumer products, retail/apparel, and media & entertainment sectors.

Before joining Heidrick & Struggles, John led the consumer practice for a leading global executive search firm in Japan. He began his career in executive search in 1997 at the Japan office of a major global search firm where he established and developed its market-leading media & entertainment practice and then led its consumer practice. He then led the consumer practice for another leading global executive search firm in Japan.

Before entering the executive search industry, John was the Asia Pacific marketing communications director for a US Fortune 50 company. Prior to that, he helped build the Japan business of a major US ad agency, growing an office of three to a staff of more than 30. He began his work in Japan as a sales manager at a Japanese printing and packaging business, where he honed his Japanese language skills by delivering his daily sales reports in handwritten Japanese.
