Akhil Verma is a principal in Heidrick & Struggles’ New York office, and is a member of the firm’s Global Technology & Services practice. Akhil specializes in leadership engagements across Technology & Digital Services, Shared Services & Outsourcing, Big Data & Analytics, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI/ML), Cognitive Computing and Robotics Process Automation (RPA).


Recently, Akhil’s background has focused on delivering optimized business process management and technology development in a strategic global shared services operations model across the banking, financial services and insurance sectors, with a particular focus on big data & analytics, artificial intelligence & machine learning and robotics process automation.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, he was the corporate senior vice president in the Americas for WNS Global Services, serving their BFS&I clients. Akhil’s previous roles have included leadership of the Americas insurance business unit of a global IT services major; global CFO and head of delivery & operations of a late-stage telematics start-up and India-based leadership of the analytics delivery organization of a global consumer goods major.

Akhil returns to the leadership advisory and executive search industry with prior mid-career experience at another global search firm, where he helped develop their Indian presence and led their functional officers (financial officer, CHRO and general counsel) practices in that geography.

He spent almost a decade at KPMG / KPMG Consulting across the Americas, Asia-Pacific and Latin America in roles spanning FP&A, regional finance controllership and technology and shared-services development and delivery. Akhil began his career at Pfizer and then at Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers or PwC).

He also completed the External Coach Intensive program at Teachers College, Columbia University and a certification in Big Data & Analytics at MIT.
