Steven Mark Greenberg

Overview

Steven Greenberg is the partner in charge of Heidrick & Struggles’ Tokyo office and a member of the Financial Services Practice. He partners closely with clients on their senior-most search, assessment, and succession needs across insurance, banking, asset management, and private equity. He is also a member of the CEO & Board of Directors Practice focusing on boards in Japan.

Experience

With more than 15 years of executive search experience in Japan and Asia Pacific, Steven has successfully led appointments at the senior-most levels of management across banks and securities firms, insurance companies, asset managers, private equity firms, and other financial institutions in Japan. He has also advised clients on multiple senior management and board succession planning and selection engagements across various sectors. Steven strongly focuses on senior strategic hires in Japan for complex, challenging C-suite leadership roles.

Before joining Heidrick and Struggles, he was a consultant with another leading global executive search firm. Prior to his career in executive search and leadership consulting, Steven was the representative director and president of The Gallup Organization Japan, director of business development for Asia Pacific at Thomson Financial, and a manager in the global financial services industry group at Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting.

He is fluent in spoken and written Japanese.

Philanthropy and Service

Steven is a member of the Keizai Doyukai (the Japan Association of Corporate Executives) and a member of the board of overseers at Temple University Japan Campus. Previously, he was a board member of Nishimachi International School (2014 – 2020) and chaired the membership and nominating committees at the Tokyo American Club.
