Michael M. Cullen is the global practice managing partner for Heidrick & Struggles’ Global Technology & Services Practice based in the Boston office. The practice focuses on recruiting board directors, CEOs, officers and vice presidents for private, venture-backed and publicly traded companies in the technology sector across multiple verticals, including enterprise software, consumer Internet, security software, and computer systems technologies.

Michael has led many executive searches across the US, Asia and EMEA for chief executive officers, board directors, chief operating officers, chief marketing officers, chief sales officers and chief product officers  He has conducted these searches for the largest technology companies and many of the fastest-growing, venture-backed companies in the world. Michael is also a strategic talent advisor to some of the most influential CEOs and their executive teams in the industry.

Prior to Heidrick & Struggles, Michael was the head of the office of executive talent at EMC Corporation, the world leader in products, services, and solutions for information management and storage. Michael, who joined EMC in 2000, was responsible for EMC’s executive hiring, movement and career guidance. He provided support to the chief executive officer and his executive team. During his tenure at EMC, he was involved in the hiring of more than 300 executives globally as the company transformed from a hardware company to a solution provider.

Before EMC, Michael spent 10 years in various capacities in the executive search industry, and successfully launched and ran a well-known franchise in New York City.

Education:

Michael graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York with a bachelor’s degree in communications and received his MBA from Northeastern University. He also received certification in organization development from Columbia University and certification in leadership from Northeastern University.
