Leading with purpose in the energy sector: An interview with Chris Wright, CEO and chairman of Liberty Oilfield Services
In this interview, Heidrick & Struggles’ Jeremy Hanson sits down with Chris Wright, the CEO and chairman of Liberty Oilfield Services, one of North America’s leading service providers to onshore oil and natural gas exploration and production companies. Wright discusses Liberty’s strategy for managing the energy transition and how important it is for leaders and society at large to lean into the dialogue about how the energy industry can evolve. Wright argues that the benefits of oil and gas production to humanity far outweigh the environmental costs, on a relative basis; how starving out the oil and gas sector is counterproductive in the energy transition, why he doesn’t believe top-down action on climate change is necessarily the best route, and shares what leadership qualities he looks for in the people he hires.
