Overview
Dr. Jay Bevington is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Dubai office and leads the CEO & Board of Directors Practice in the Middle East and North Africa, working with clients on executive search and advisory engagements. As the Global Board Advisory Leader, Jay leads the firm’s global board advisory work.
Experience
Jay’s career spans more than 20 years of enhancing the impact of boards and corporate governance for numerous global brands. He has advised more than 500 boards from multiple industries and geographies, including private and listed corporations, regulators, central government, public entities, family businesses, and private partnerships.
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, he was a senior partner at Deloitte, advising some of the firm’s most significant and strategic global clients. He was also the firm’s first global governance advisor, advising the global board chair, board directors, and members and boards worldwide. In 2008, he founded the firm’s inaugural board advisory practice, specializing in the assessment and development of government, family, regulatory, and commercial boards.
Earlier in his career, Jay worked as a football agent in the U.K. Premier League, founded a sports marketing company, and started a column in a major journal at the age of 25.
He has authored over 50 publications and has been quoted in the Economist and the Financial Times. Jay's board impact frameworks have been adopted globally and are used by Harvard Business School MBA students. A regular keynote speaker at conferences, he has designed and led masterclasses for top board directors, including in the U.K. FTSE 100.
Jay is a qualified clinical psychologist and faculty member of the GCC Board Directors Institute.

University of Edinburgh, Master of Arts, with honors, Psychology
