John Goodrum

John Goodrum is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Houston office and a member of the global Industrial Practice, focusing on upstream and oilfield services within the energy sector. Prior to his career in executive search, John worked in the White House and held senior roles in political organizations, gaining broad experience in governance and strategic operations.

With more than fifteen years of experience in executive search, John specializes in senior and executive-level appointments across the global energy market. He partners with boards, C-suites, and senior leadership teams to build transformative organizations.

John’s work spans oil and gas, oilfield services, power, chemicals, and renewables. His extensive experience includes US and international publicly traded companies, private equity-backed portfolio companies, and privately owned companies.

John is a trusted advisor and negotiator who manages complex projects with subject-matter expertise and deep industry knowledge. His experience in energy services, technology, and industrial markets enables him to provide practical field-based perspectives and market insights.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, John spent 12 years with a boutique executive search firm.
