Julia Goodman is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Johannesburg office, working across Sub-Saharan Africa as a member of the global Technology & Services and Social Impact practices. She is also a member of the Technology Officers Practice, leading CTO, CIO, and related searches across the continent. She also consults with clients across industries, with a particular focus on leadership development and team facilitation.

Experience

Julia works extensively with C-suite executives and directors to source top talent, conduct market scans and talent maps, and consult on leadership development and assessment projects. She has a particular interest in technology and has worked on global searches for large telecommunications, infrastructure, and private equity-backed technology companies, as well as for global foundations, education institutions, and NPOs, in cross-functional, senior executive roles.

Julia has worked with clients in South Africa, Angola, Namibia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, the DRC, and across the wider West, East, and Central African regions.

Before joining Heidrick & Struggles, Julia spent three years at a boutique executive search firm in Johannesburg. She started her career as a graduate trainee at a major international motor company and then worked in sales and marketing at a five-star hotel in the UK. She also has experience in marketing planning, research, and business and competitor intelligence.
