Joe Haberman is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Washington D.C. office and managing partner of the Education Technology Practice, coordinating a worldwide group of professionals covering this rapidly developing sector. He is a member of both the firm’s Global Technology & Services and CEO & Board of Directors practices.

Joe's professional concentration is C-suite leadership recruitment for a diverse worldwide sector comprised of organizations that provide software, platforms, solutions, or services to the education economy. In his engagements, Joe typically works with boards of directors, CEOs, and investors recruiting leadership to these impactful businesses seeking to improve learning outcomes.

Joe’s clients include diverse and market-leading businesses. As part of the firm’s strategic partnership with the World Economic Forum, Joe served on their Global Education Initiative, leading an effort that developed a resource guide for leaders engaged in multi-lateral partnerships for systemic reform.

Prior to Heidrick & Struggles, Joe spent nine years with another major search firm as vice president and managing director, where he originated an international practice in education markets. Before executive search, Joe had an HR career as senior VP with Shearson/Lehman Brothers and previously with American Express.

Joe recently completed a long tenure as a trustee of Calvert School and was past chairman of Calvert Education Services, a 100 year-old provider of virtual education to families and school authorities. He currently serves as an advisor for two early stage education companies – Mpower, a specialized lender for international students attending selective US universities and CredentialED, a K-12 provider of design learning curriculum.
