Daniel T. Ryan

Overview

Dan Ryan is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ New York office and the global managing partner of Client Development and Coverage. He has more than 20 years of search experience specializing in senior-level financial services placements and board and leadership advisory assignments. Previously, Dan was the executive sponsor of Heidrick On Demand, our leading marketplace for high-end independent talent on demand globally.

Experience

During Dan’s tenure with Heidrick & Struggles, he has successfully completed more than 500 client engagements and continues to deepen the firm's relationships with many of the world's leading financial institutions. He has experience across investment and corporate banking sectors, private equity, traditional and alternative asset management, and wealth management. He also works extensively with boutique and middle market investment banks, family offices, regional banks, private equity firms, hedge funds, and other investment management companies.

Dan has held numerous leadership positions at Heidrick & Struggles, including Americas regional leader, managing partner of Heidrick On Demand, head of global strategic accounts, Americas regional leader for the Financial Services Practice, and partner-in-charge of the New York office.

Dan joined Heidrick & Struggles from Citigroup in 2003. Previously, he worked in Washington, D.C., for the U.S. Export-Import Bank, an independent government agency providing financing to domestic exporters.

Dan is frequently quoted in leading news and business publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, CNN Money, Bloomberg Markets Magazine, and Business Insider, and is also a regular guest speaker on industry panels.

Dan is active in several not-for-profit organizations and is on the board of British American Business and the Mianus River Gorge Preserve in Bedford, New York.
