Maryam Shahabi is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ New York office and a member of the global Consumer Markets, Consumer Products, Retail, and Marketing, Sales, & Strategy Officers practices. In addition to her sales leadership work, she conducts general management searches, partnering with clients on CEO, president, and enterprise leadership roles.
Experience
Maryam has nearly 15 years of experience in general management and commercial executive searches within the consumer products sector in North America. Her clients span mid-market private equity–backed businesses, privately held organizations, and large publicly traded companies.
Leveraging her international background, Maryam also leads cross-border searches, supporting European companies expanding into North America and North American organizations seeking to grow their presence in Europe. Having spent half her life in Europe and half in North America, Maryam is uniquely positioned to assess cultural fit across regions worldwide.
Before joining Heidrick & Struggles, Maryam spent four years at Bloomberg News producing live interview segments with business and government leaders. Earlier, she worked at ABC News and in corporate law at a top international law firm. This unique combination has given Maryam a distinctive ability to assess senior leaders, understand their strategic context, and advise clients with deep insights and thoughtfulness.
Maryam’s global background also enables her to guide clients in evaluating candidates’ cultural fit and compatibility with a given organization. She is fluent in French, English, Persian, and Spanish.
