Overview
Bo Herbst is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Chicago office and a member of the Industrial Practice. He brings value to his industrial and manufacturing clients by helping them recruit chief executive officers and other senior executives to board director roles and to general management, operations, and finance functions. Bo helps build effective leadership teams at public, private equity, and family-owned companies across a broad spectrum of industries.
Experience
Bo has served in a variety of leaderships roles at Heidrick & Struggles including regional managing partner of the Americas Industrial Practice, managing partner of the Manufacturing sector, and managing partner of the Americas Building Products Practice. He has been actively involved in various global firm initiatives including strategy and training & development and is a long-serving member of the firm’s Global Quality Council.
Bo joined Heidrick & Struggles from a major management consulting firm where he led a competitive intelligence and sales strategy team for several business units. In this role he helped to develop in-depth, industry-specific sales strategies that allowed the firm to significantly increase its business development effectiveness.
Previously, Bo worked in Spain and Portugal as a sales manager for a large U.S.-based industrial manufacturing firm. Clients included multinational manufacturing firms in the automotive, capital equipment and controls industries, as well as power generation enterprises, oil refineries, and petrochemical companies. Previously, he served as Dean of Students at Harlaxton College, the British campus of the University of Evansville.
