Overview

Tim Holt is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ New York office and a longstanding member of the Financial Services, CEO & Board of Directors, and Social Impact practices. He is a trusted advisor to boards, CEOs, and public sector leaders navigating complex leadership transitions. With nearly 25 years at the firm, he is highly experienced in CEO and board succession, leadership assessment, and governance effectiveness, particularly in high-stakes, sensitive environments.

Experience

Tim has built a distinctive practice at the intersection of the private, public, and civic sectors. He advises commercial banks, credit unions, central banks, government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs), multilateral development banks (MDBs), regulators, cooperatives, nonprofits, and associations. His ability to guide leadership decisions in consequential, confidential situations has earned him long-term relationships with many of the firm’s most significant clients.

Tim has held multiple leadership roles at Heidrick & Struggles, including head of the Financial Services Practice in the Americas, overseeing the U.S. Northeast Region, and the consumer and commercial financial services sector. He was a founding partner of the firm’s Risk Practice and served on the global Consultant Promotions Committee. Tim is frequently tapped to help launch and scale new capabilities, contributing to strategic initiatives such as the Restructuring Center of Excellence, leadership assurance offerings, and assessment product innovation. He plays a central role in onboarding and expanding the firm’s client base.

A committed advocate for inclusive leadership, Tim is the former co-chair of the Americas Diversity Council and a champion for economic access and equitable talent development.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Tim worked in the financial services practice in New York with another top global executive search firm and held leadership roles at Lexis-Nexis, Rand McNally, and Gulf States Paper Corporation.
