Derek Newberry is a principal in Heidrick & Struggles’ New York City office and a member of the Performance Culture Practice. He helps organizations align their purpose, culture, and strategy to achieve extraordinary results.
Experience
Derek’s advisory work is driven by deep subject matter expertise. He is an advisor to clients navigating complex change, integrating acquisitions, and weathering disruptions in their industries. He specializes in helping leadership teams align, galvanize strategic vision, and build high-performance cultures.
Before joining Heidrick & Struggles, Derek led the organization and culture design practice at a boutique consulting firm, where he partnered with leaders in Fortune 500 companies and top mission-driven organizations undergoing large-scale transformations.
He is an affiliated faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania, where he delivers executive education sessions on leading change and building team dynamics at the Wharton School’s Aresty Institute. He is the co-author of two acclaimed business books: The Culture Puzzle (Berrett-Kohler) and Committed Teams (Wiley Press).
