Michael Nieset


Michael Nieset is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ New York and San Francisco offices, focusing on recruiting at the board, CEO, and C-suite level for technology and technology-enabled companies. He is part of the global Technology Practice leadership team and specializes in CEO and board succession planning.


Since joining Heidrick & Struggles, Michael has led searches across the United States, Europe, and Asia, specifically focused on companies across a variety of sectors including software, data and analytics, fintech and industrial/additive manufacturing technologies.

Michael is a regular contributor to media and conferences on corporate governance, succession planning, and board diversity. He has served as a panelist and guest lecturer MIT’s Sloan School of Management, Stanford University’s Director’s College in the Rock Center for Corporate Governance, and The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business.

Michael led the design and development of a unique apprenticeship program in collaboration with Stanford University’s Rock Center for Corporate Governance. The program was designed to accelerate the development of diverse executives for broader operating roles and corporate board service.
