Clayton Sears

Overview

Clayton Sears is partner-in-charge of Heidrick & Struggles’ Houston office and leads the global Energy Sector, which includes alternative and renewable energy, oil and gas, and power and utilities. He is also a member of the global Industrial, CEO & Board of Directors, and Financial Officers practices. He previously led the alternative and renewable energy sector.

Experience

Clayton focuses primarily on C-level, senior investment professionals, board search, and consulting assignments, and continues to work with investors and private and public companies focused on energy infrastructure after more than a decade in the space.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Clayton served for six years as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps. He deployed twice to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and served on the general’s staff of the Marine Corps’ Special Operations Command, where he played a leading role in shaping the organization’s strategy in the Middle East.

Philanthropy and Service

Clayton serves in several capacities at CityRise—a network of churches, ministries, non-profits, and global partners—including as a deacon at Crosspoint Church-Bellaire and as a director of a Bible study for parents with children. He also serves on the board of The Tavern Ministry, a non-denominational ministry that disciples future Navy and Marine Corps leaders at the Naval Academy.
