Overview

Tom Murray is the president of Heidrick & Struggles, a global leadership advisory firm providing executive search, leadership assessment and development, organization and team effectiveness, and culture shaping services. He leads executive search and has operational responsibility for On-Demand Talent, Heidrick Consulting, and Go-to-Market. He is a member of the global management committee, reporting to the CEO.

Experience

Since joining the company as a partner in 2018, Tom has held numerous leadership roles, most recently as the global managing partner of executive search and, before that, the global managing partner of the Technology & Services Practices. He has advised CEOs and boards on building future-focused leadership teams across an extensive client portfolio spanning all industries, bringing the full suite of Heidrick & Struggles services to clients worldwide.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Tom was a human resources executive with extensive experience in HR, talent management, and talent attraction. Notably, he was the first chief talent officer for Dell Technologies, where he led in-market and global HR and talent teams, driving cross-collaboration, leadership development, and succession planning initiatives. Before that, he was chief talent officer for EMC, which merged with Dell in 2016, making it the world’s largest privately-controlled tech company at the time.

Philanthropy and Service

Tom is a member of the Board of Trustees at Cape Cod Academy, an independent college preparatory day school. He previously served on the board of directors for Horizons for Homeless Children, one of the few organizations in Massachusetts focused exclusively on the needs of homeless children and their families.
