Ian Tomlinson-Roe

Overview

Ian Tomlinson-Roe is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ London office and head of Heidrick Consulting in London. He consults with clients to accelerate the performance of leaders, teams, and organizations to design global people strategies and operating models, organizational and governance structures, merger integrations, major transformation programs, work methods, culture and workforce change, efficiency, and productivity.

Experience

Ian possesses a unique blend of consulting and line management experience, having spent the past 20 years in either line or advisory roles at the highest levels of organizations and government. His breadth of experience covers many sectors, including financial services, oil and gas, mining, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, defense, technology, sport, and private equity. Ian has functional knowledge and leadership capabilities encompassing most, if not all, aspects of an organization, which allows him a platform to influence and provide direction at the board level. He combines strategic thought processes with strong implementation skills. Ian is a trusted advisor to many organizations and high-profile individuals.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Ian was a senior partner at PwC, where he led the workforce transformation solution and the firm’s people and organization public sector consulting activity. He most recently designed and led the UK’s largest defense sector transformation which realized multi £bn savings. Before joining PwC, Ian held executive committee responsibility for people, marketing, and communications at the Dutch insurer AEGON.

Ian’s early career was in financial services culminating in various executive roles covering strategy, retail and corporate banking, operations, and human resources. Shortly after the RBS acquisition of NatWest, Ian joined KPMG, where he led the design and launch of KPMG’s financial services human resource consulting practice.
