David Peck is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ San Francisco office and a member of Heidrick Consulting, focusing on leadership development. He partners with search colleagues and clients to meet the most pressing—and accelerating—needs of organizations and leaders.

For more than 15 years, David has assessed, advised, and coached leaders and top teams, and led large-scale engagements, to help them create the conditions for operating at their sustainable and purpose-driven best. He brings a powerful curiosity and drive to each client, along with the informed perspective of having been a senior operating executive in financial services in FinTech, a GM, and a founder/entrepreneur before becoming a coach.

David’s clients are often at key inflection points: needing to enhance or scale their leadership; pre- and post-CEO succession; looking to strengthen their board impact; improving engagement of their teams; enhancing influence and communication; onboarding/changing roles; and, improving effectiveness and results. His clients appreciate his candor, good humor, pragmatism, and ability to quickly grasp their unique organizational needs and challenges.

Before joining Heidrick & Struggles, David was a senior coach and western and central US region head of a global executive coaching firm. There he served leadership teams and executives in top financial services, health care, nonprofit, and technology brands globally. He led the regions in recruiting, vetting, and building the delivery network, managing relationships and business development among top organizations in those and related verticals, including private equity, venture capital, energy, defense, and professional services globally.

Earlier in his career, David was an executive at Charles Schwab & Company where he was chief operating officer of the Schwab Institutional division. He led the integration of a FinTech acquisition and founded and led the Schwab Clearing business from zero to over $20 billion in assets and to profitability in less than three years.

Previously David was principal at PriceWaterhouse Management Consulting Services division before it was acquired by another organization. There he focused on developing and leading projects related to technology and operations strategy in leading financial services firms on and off Wall Street.

David earned a BFA from New York University and completed the Leadership Coaching certification program at Georgetown University. He is also certified in Hogan Assessments, EQ in Action, Leadership Circle Profile, and Systemic Team Coaching in addition to other tools.
