Experience

For more than 18 years, David has assessed, advised, and coached more than 400 leaders and top teams, including Fortune 100 CEOs. He brings powerful curiosity and drive to each client along with the informed perspective of having been a senior operating executive in FinTech, a general manager with extensive P&L experience, and a partner with Heidrick & Struggles.

As 80% of leadership failures relate to what had in the past been referred to as the “soft stuff,” David challenges his clients and their organizations to focus on clearing their blind spots, looking ahead, agility, elevating their EQ, and inviting and celebrating diversity. His work helps leaders and teams optimize their impact on their boards, colleagues, investors, stakeholders, and customers by operating at higher levels of effectiveness, awareness, and purpose, and taking on tough leadership challenges to deliver on big bets. His clients appreciate his counsel, candor, good humor, pragmatism, and ability to quickly grasp their unique organizational needs and challenges.

Earlier in his career, David was COO of Charles Schwab & Company’s largest division where he led the integration of a FinTech acquisition and founded and led the Schwab Clearing business from zero to over $20 billion in assets and profitability in less than three years. Previously, David was a principal at PriceWaterhouse Management Consulting Services division before it was acquired by another organization. There he focused on developing and leading projects related to technology and operational strategy with financial services firms on and off Wall Street.

David has been widely published on leadership and he writes the Recovering Leader blog.

David is certified in Hogan Assessments, EQ in Action, Leadership Circle Profile, and Systemic Team Coaching in addition to other tools.
