Scott Atkinson

Overview

Scott Atkinson is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ San Francisco office and managing partner of the global Venture Capital Practice. He is also a member of the Financial Services, Financial Officers, and Technology practices. Scott conducts searches for chief financial officers, board directors, and executives for leading publicly-traded, private equity, and venture capital-backed companies that want to drive transformation and innovation, and disruptors looking to take the next steps in their evolution and growth trajectories. Additionally, he specializes in senior-level leadership advisory assignments within private equity, venture capital, and investment banking where he places investment bankers and investment professionals.

 

Experience

In 2019, Scott was named co-head of Heidrick & Struggles’ Sustainability Office, helping to facilitate collaboration in driving new commercial opportunities, including the placement of C-suite executives, board directors, and senior leaders within companies and organizations that focus on advancing environmental and social initiatives around the world.

Prior to Heidrick & Struggles, Scott was a senior member of the legal team and human resources group at Digital.ai, formerly known as CollabNet, a private-equity backed technology company dedicated to helping Global 5000 enterprises achieve digital transformation goals. Scott began his career as a consultant with a boutique executive search firm where he built the senior management teams at private equity and venture-backed technology companies.

Philanthropy and Service

Scott is chair of the board for Earth League International (ELI), an innovative hybrid non-profit organization consisting of former FBI and CIA officers, analysts, and undercover investigators who protect nature by investigating and exposing wildlife criminals worldwide, including poachers, traffickers, and corrupt government officials.

Additionally, Scott is on the advisory board for the Surf Conservation Partnership, a groundbreaking collaboration between Save The Waves Coalition and Conservation International that is mobilizing surfing communities to expand conservation of critically important marine and coastal ecosystems. The Partnership’s goal is to create more than 20 Surf Protected Areas around the world, covering more than 1 million hectares of coral reef, mangrove, coastline, and coastal forest by 2023.
