The CEO of Jack in the Box shares his experiences stepping into his new role remotely and discusses the aspects of company culture that have enabled resilience.

Heidrick & Struggles’ Laura Brinsmaid and Rose Gailey speak with Darin Harris, CEO of Jack in the Box, an American fast-food restaurant chain based out of San Diego, California. Harris, who was announced as the new CEO in April 2020 and started in June 2020, shares his experiences preparing to step into a new role remotely and how he began by building relationships—with his team, with franchisees, and with board members. He also discusses the ways in which the company’s culture, grounded in servant leadership, enables resilience, and how important it was that he and other company leaders continually expressed and demonstrated their authentic commitment to employee safety.
