Energy leaders for the next decade: Rebuilding the industry after the COVID-19 crisis

The real competition in the energy industry in the years ahead will be for a new kind of leadership.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the energy industry already had an urgent need for a new kind of leadership—due to greater shareholder pressure, mounting ESG compliance issues, and the need to prepare for an energy transition—and the crisis has only accelerated and underscored the changes needed. This new kind of leader needs to think like an activist to disrupt and innovate, behave like a diplomat to build stakeholder relationships and bolster industry reputation, and serve as advocate to rebuild pride in the industry’s purpose of providing energy to the world.
