Overview
Harry O’Neill is a partner emeritus in Heidrick & Struggles’ Madrid office. For nearly three decades, he has completed high-level human capital assignments encompassing C-suite, financial services, and board functions. He continues to work as an advisor to the firm’s clients on strategic leadership needs.
Experience
Harry has held various leadership roles in the firm. Most recently, Harry led the firm’s human resources function in APAC and the Middle East, driving the firm’s people agenda in the region, with particular emphasis on diversity and inclusion. He also led the Financial Services Practice in Asia Pacific and the Middle East for more than seven years and the CEO & Board of Directors Practice in Hong Kong for three years.
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Harry was managing director at another global search firm, which he joined when it and the Hong Kong search firm he founded in 1994 combined businesses.
Harry started his career in banking with JP Morgan in London before joining the trading team at Allied Irish Bank. He also worked in Kuwait, Singapore, and Sydney, latterly for Deutsche Bank.
Philanthropy and Service
Harry is a former chair of the board of the Association of Executive Search Consultants and its Asia Pacific council. He has been extensively involved in Irish community organizations in the region and served as honorary consul of Ireland to Hong Kong from 2006 until the establishment of the country's first consulate general in Hong Kong in 2014.
Harry was co-founder and for 6 years served as co-global leader of Pride@Heidrick, an LGBT employee resource group that serves to advance LGBT leadership worldwide. Harry currently serves as co-dean of the Dare to Lead leadership development programme.
